Anatomical System
- The tissue, organ or anatomical system from which the sample was prepared.
- Examples are digestive, lung and retina.
Cell Type
- The precise cell type from which a sample was prepared.
- Examples are: B-lymphocyte, fibroblast and oocyte.
- Modeled after OBO Cell Ontology (CL).
Pathology
- The pathological state of the tissue from which the sample was prepared.
- Examples are: normal, lymphoma, and congenital.
Developmental Stage
- The stage during the organism's development at which the sample was prepared.
- Examples are: embryo, fetus, and adult.
Pooling
- Indicates whether the tissue used to prepare the library was derived from single or multiple samples.
- Examples are pooled, pooled donor and pooled tissue.
Associated With
- Describes information that is relevant to and associated with the sample, but that relates to the organism from which the sample was prepared from, not to the sample itself.
- Examples are individual genetic characteristics, infection, phenotype and disease state.
Microarray Platform
- Catalogs the Affymetrix GeneChip Human platforms present in the GEO data repository.
- Examples are Affymetrix GeneChip, Affymetrix GeneChip Human Genome U95 Set HG-U95A and Affymetrix GeneChip Human 35K SubA Array Hu35k-A.
Treatment
- Describes the clinical and experimental treatment that the sample was subjected to.
- Examples are clinical treatment, treatment duration and experimental treatment.
Tissue Preparation
- Defines how the tissue was prepared for the experiment.
- Examples are cell line, flow-sorted and microdissected.
Experimental Technique
- Defines the type of experimental method used on the sample.
- Examples are EST, SAGE and ORESTES.
Human Development
- Based on the human Anatomical System ontology with additional terms from developmental stages
- Examples are future dermis or ''mesoderm'
Mouse Development
- An anatomical system ontology for mouse with additional terms from the 26 Theiler stages of mouse development
- Examples are presumptive nephric duct or ''mesoderm'
Theiler Stage
- A hierarchy of the mouse developmental stages, grouped into fetal, embryonic and adult. To be used in combination with the Mouse Development ontology
- Examples are adult or Theiler Stage 10
